Barrier Trials - Sha Tin 28th Aug

Hong Kong Skyline

Another day, another set of Barrier Trials in Hong Kong, this time on the all-weather track at Sha Tin. Regular followers of racing in Hong Kong will know that the artifical surface at Sha Tin can be a very specialist track and horses seem to have a love/hate relationship with it throughout their careers. As a result, caution always needs to be exercised with the form on the all-weather track but there were a couple of promising performances in the trail races held over the sprint trips this morning, most notably from Alpha One. He was a multiple winner during his time in Australia with Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young and after a couple of promising starts at the end of last season, he looks like he is ready to make a fast start to the new campaign. After making a rapid start from the gate, he was 4-lengths ahead of the rest of the field as they turned for home today and kept on nicely under a hands ride to record the best speed figure of the day. If he were to get a favourable draw on his first start of the new season, he would look to be an interesting proposition to make a winning return.

Here are this mornings results and time comparisons;
