Chantilly Maidens - 2nd May

Runners in the Prix de Manse at Chantilly, 2nd May 2025

PRIX DE JOINVILLE

3YO Maiden for Colts & Geldings - 2,000m - €13,500

Finishing Speed - 111.9%

Marlowe (Graffard/Juddmonte) 3.9 PMU. Drawn widest in stall 7, but able to get come early cover before making stealthy progress to lead with 400m to run. Went away to win by 2-lengths under Soumillon. Frankel Colt out of a Siyouni Mare (Mori), daughter of multiple G1 winner Midday. Tongue-tie on for debut. Eased down but dismounted after the line.

Panta Rei (2nd) 32 PMU. Ran well beyond market expectations. Last turning in but kept on well down the outside to chase the winner home, only 0.13s slower over the final 3-furlongs. Belardo gelding, Dam a Listed winner over a mile, half-brother to Eternal Pearl (Charlie Appleby). Tongue-tied for debut. €60,000 yearling (Arqana 22). Should win a maiden, possibly at a lesser track than Chantilly.

Rakhim (3rd) 7.5 PMU. Fair run for Reynier on debut. Hung right slightly when asked for an effort, but did close when straightened and ran the fastest final furlong in 11.49s. Le Havre Colt out of a 12f winner, up in trip next time?

Mecolek (4th) and Asafkhan (5th) priced on connections perhaps and both shaped like they will need further than 2,000m at a steady pace.

PRIX DE MANSE

3YO Maiden for Fillies - 2,000m - €13,500

Finishing Speed - 102.3%

Runaway leader (Mansonnienne) helped to set this up before tailing off. Golden Splendour (Graffard/Juddmonte) sat in the middle of the pack before quickening in the straight once the leader came back to the field. Won by 2-lengths. 9.3 PMU and apparent stable 2nd-string on jockey bookings, but well on top at the line. Golden Horn filly, dam won the Nassau (Winsili).

Balistra (2nd) also 2nd string for her yard, Andre Fabre trained. Persian King filly, came with a winning run at the 2-furlong pole but couldn’t match the winner and tired in final 100-yards. €26,000 yearling (Arqana 22). Ran 12.16, 12.01s furlongs for 8th and 9th. Shown enough to win a maiden, possibly better suited by a slower pace and a sprint.

Darayadana (3rd) is a Zarak x Sea the Stars and shaped like she needs further than this, despite the stronger pace. Kept on and hit the line well. Similar comments apply to Another Light (4th) who completed a 1,3,4 for Francis-Henri Graffard.
