The ratings for the PSF races held this week at Deauville can be found below. As we approach the end of August the Deauville Summer carnival is coming to an end. Both of these midweek cards had an end of season feel to them and that is especially true on the artificial surface where the lower grade races tend to be run at this stage of the festival as they try to protect the turf course. The good news is that the going has been changed from slow to standard, which does at least acknowledge that the track is riding fast as the times have been showing for the last 2 weeks. Several of the lower grade handicaps on todays card dipped below the course average and when we look at the ratings, it backs up the theory that the track is aiding some good times. The winner of the final race, the 21.5k rated Landaryna ran a rating of 98 when winning today. She is a 50-race, 5-year-old mare who has won 3 times in her career. All of those wins have come on an artificial surface and she does pay her way at a low level, but it would still have taken more than a canny ride to see her get so close to the course standard. There isn't a horse to take for next time from these ratings. Instead, there will be a sense of caution with this form as there does look to be touch of "too good to be true" about the recent results.
