After an absence of over 700-days, it is very hard to know how to assess Gorvitho, who will make his debut for Willie Mullins at Tipperary. He comes from a decent family and the Mullins team have enjoyed success with horses from Daniela Mele in the past, so there is every reason to think that he will make up into a nice horse for his new connections. The form of his maiden run at Craon in December 2022 has worked out reasonably well and although he was ultimately outpaced in the closing stages, I liked the way he stuck to the task and I think the switch to hurdles and ultimately a longer trip, is going to bring out the best in him. Here's a brief summary of his form and profile:
GORVITHO
5YO Gelding
No Risk At All x Gorvina (Martaline)
1st Foal. Dam unraced half-sister to Listed French Chase winner Gorvello. Out of French hurdle winner.
Form: 2/ €3,200 career earnings.
New Connections: WP Mullins, Mrs Audrey Turley
Notes: 5YO Gelding. Flat raced. Finished 2nd on only start on the Flat for Daniela Mele at Craon in December 2022. Chased home a stablemate (Soleriano) who went on to win over hurdles in the Spring (rated 60-kilos). Sat behind the early lead before moving to challenge turning in. Not enough pace to match the winner, but kept on to finish narrow 2nd. Xclusif (3rd) remains a maiden after 10 starts, but Ad Libitum (4th) has won 3 times on the Flat at Pornichet since and is rated 32.5-kilos on the Flat (72). Jacasse Camara (5th) won over hurdles next time and is now rated 61-kilos (122) over obstacles.
Time was competitive with other 12-furlong races on the card. Finishing speed of 108.8%.
Has shown fair form and looked to have enough ability to land an Irish maiden hurdle at some point. Hard to assess given an absence of over 700-days.
*Wore tongue-tie and noseband on debut
