Jebel Ali Maidens - 4th November

A Horse wearing a Racing Bridle

The new season in the UAE is just getting underway and the first meeting on the Dirt at Jebel Ali has already taken place. The main focus of the UAE season is the Carnival at Meydan, with the first meeting there taking place on Friday, but the Racing at Jebel Ali can be just as informative. Saturday's meeting had an early season feel to it, with lots of maiden races and a large number of runners shaping like they were badly in need of their first outing. However, as you can see from the ratings below there were a couple of excellent performances from the maiden winners, most notably Mozahim and Marsoom who both made winning starts for Michael Costa, who has already saddled 5 winners from 11 runners this season. On this evidence, which I will admit is slightly limited, they have both run beyond a mark of 85 in my opinion and they look like horses who could make up into carnival prospects in the new year. As a result, I have also made a note of their respective runners up, Al Arbed and Turjman (also trained by Costa) as I think both are likely to find a winning opportunity in the coming weeks and they may have simply been unlucky to bump into a smart type last weekend.
